Champion Achieves Safety Milestone

02/09/08 - Champion Compressors has recently chalked-up five years without a lost time injury. This means that for half a decade, all Champion Compressors’ work places - both its own manufacturing facility and its customers’ sites - have remained safe and free of serious injuries.

This significant safety milestone highlights Champion’s world-class manufacturing excellence, and reinforces its reputation as one of the country’s most safety-conscious and responsible employers.

"Champion Compressors nurtures a culture of safety among its employees and considers this its priority," said Champion Compressors’ Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Coordinator, Simon Meyrick. "A safety-conscious and confident workforce is inherently efficient, which results in more cost-effective products for the end user.”

Champion Compressors adopts a three-pronged safety strategy, implementing initiatives which target safety in the final products, corporate administration and field services. Champion-designed products have safety actually built-in, while prudent management directives ensure best-practice methods are employed on the shop floor. In the field services sector, Champion’s service department targets safe operations, even in the most unfamiliar environments. It is this company-wide safety culture that sets Champion Compressors apart from its competitors.

“Champion is achieving these high standards of safety by empowering its staff through regular training, re-enforcement and equality among its employees,” said Meyrick. “This directive comes all the way from senior management and drives the company’s pursuit of safety awareness.”
